Ok can you remember who survived the assault on the primary school Connors? I know Demedi did, and there were two or three others, do you remember who they were?

Also Angus will need a new pc (as you already know) Defa is bringing in his new one, I think Eamon's is still alive?? If not he will need to make a new one, as for Jesse's captain, no one knows!!! (except for me, evil GM smiles)

OK, I am reluctant to start this thread in fear of you reading my tone the wrong way, but I really want to help, and contribute to a better game. It sounds as though you are stressing about preparing, and it 'seems' (for I am not there) that you are spending far too long doing so. On a thread you said that one enc was done and spending night on the next.

Before I can make specific suggestions I guess I should ask what you are spending time doing.

But given that will take time I will make a few observations without trying to sound like a know-it-all. Merely trying to help.

Enc Personal: Are you using the stats from the book? Throwing an encounter like the 'Park' one together should take little time as there are stats for Germans in the book. I didn't need hours for encounters for the ConnorsCon and I was converting (making most up) every encounter. Just wondering are the enemy stats taking the time? Can players help with ally extras. Is too much time being spent coming up with full names for minor NPCs? Rather than writing this down and then trying to convey everything, may put the basics straight on to the website for the players to check out. (Saves writing it twice).

Buildings: I honestly think this is where more time could be spent, instead of most buildings being 'lumps' of impassable rubble. I have been watching a lot of WWII footage and rarely do you see 'square blocks of rubble'. Should be parts of floors, pipes and cabling to climb, arches & blown out windows to climb through etc. Rubble tends to fall in 'sloping piles'. We seem to be using relatively open streets and moving around (instead of through) the buildings. As much of the rubble should be in the streets. It is a little frustrating not being able to use the buildings, climb the rubble etc. Now, I am NOT saying to spend hours on this. A simple roll of how accessible it is on the spot would do. Even better - download some pictures of war torn buildings and show the group what it looks like and let the players decide how to tackle it (rather than it is a solid block and you can't go in). Or, again, ask players to do so.

Maps: Ok my last message may have gotten a little screwed. I meant have predrawn maps if there is a LOT going on (ie many buildings) and/or the chance PCs will go into them (then you just fill in the details as the move through). Not that it mattered at all (and I doubt the drawing took you long), but the Park map could have been done on the spot with the building blocks. Not that it matters to me - I am merely looking where you can save time in prepping (and we all can in battle).

Searches: Love the charts you have done for mundane items. These are very important in a place such as Stalingrad :) If you wanted to save time during the game you could have several 'German soldiers' possessions already done (as German soldiers are the common enemy to search). Not that I do this often either, but you seemed a little frustrated rolling them all.

Logistics: Are you having trouble with 'new' rule mechanics and overall things like how vehicles work & the different weapons? Are there sections each week you could sound out to players to read? If something is coming up you could have us read the 'Artillery rules' for eg.

Campaign Plotting: Is this taking a lot of time? If so, maybe run some more of the actual Plot Points. Does the book have 'Savage Tales' (drop in encounters)? Are you trying to develop a lot of own encounters? Maybe an encounter chart (which I am sure you have) with some Sample encs done would help (but again, using basic stats from the book). Are you using any of the Encounters or Realms charts - getting used to the templates may save you time in the long run. (As I note you have been writing everything out).

Not trying to be patronising here. Actually offering some help. I have time and motivation to put into this campaign and am offering. I would love to have players wanting to do a lot to improve the campaign (and save time). I try to do all I can 'in game' to save time (setting up stuff - stuff I have to do when DMing too…Yes, an area I think players could help in).

I can find more stuff for you (such as pics), but won't do so unless asked, as what I have already done seems overwhelming. But the Maps have helped the players visualise the city.

Anyway - just trying to figure out what it is that is taking hours of prep. You seem to be having more trouble (or at least as much) as I did putting the M1's together. I thought choosing a Plot Point Campaign was meant to be easier on you - that is why we swapped from Scaptia (so you weren't converting everything). If it isn't…well I don't know ;) But offering some help.

Jesse has already done a replacement, and made extra's for the night, haven't had a really good look at the replacement, not enough time. Madly trying to get stuff together for tomorrow night, will work on stuff for a bit longer, but eyes are burning, have the next encounter done, but working on the one after.

Not sure he will need it - we haven't had a chance to heal yet, BUT he has 3 wounds and we don't have a recognised medic, so barring very good rolls it looks like he will be off to the hosi. ;)

Cool, The serzhant has one wound but he is tough and will stick it out (walk it off princess). Love the campaign and how dangerous it is. You should also know I have been updating the mission log on a regular basis.

Thanks Defa, wow you guys have taken a fair pounding, it is seeming more and more like a realistic war campaign as we go along.
Five more extra's are coming in on wed night, along with Jesse's new character and Angus' replacement character, which will make a squad of 9, haven't heard from Eamon, if he is coming then he will need to make a character and that will be the 10th squad member.
The guys from 1st squad will return to their squad, whats left of it.

I think Klerd has 3 wounds (sheet not with me), but we haven't tried to heal yet, so he may still join us, and given his stubborn, 'do it yourself' 'tude, may try and stick around.

Nikolai only has 1 after healing and knowing him he won't go to hosi (probably can't being leader an' all). Spoke to Defa and he had no intention of sending Nikolai there.

No idea on Extras.

Ok after the massive counter offensive at the hospital and the casualties incurred by 3rd squad we will be in need of some new characters for our next session.
Jesse is currently writing up some new extra's, but I am unsure of who is left alive from the extra's I will list the characters that I know of and their status and would love some responses from others here, particularly Defa as he has a list of who was wounded and killed.
Demedi: Ok
Klerd: Wounded - how many wounds?
Sezhant Nikolai - Wounded, how many wounds?
Pyotr - Dead
Alexia - Dead
Zentesi - Dead
Akan - ?
Zach - Injured

Who are the others and what is their status, trying to remember.

OK Aido, I toyed with many options, and then determined randomly. I ended up giving Oleg the College Boy Edge. (Grants him 4 Skill Points to spend upon Smarts-only skills basically). It is a Background Edge, but I am sure you won't bemoan him taking it now (besides, BG Edges in Deluxe make it clear they can be taken after creation, but need an explanation. Basically Oleg improved his Knowledge skills (Engineering & History), Healing (all 3 of which are related to his studies) and then I took a d4 in Notice (possibly reflecting his new Sniper training.

All Bonus XP AND mission xp can be divided among the two as you see fit, I am quite happy for Oleg to gain all of the XP Demedi gains, as Oleg will be training and learing quite a lot where he is, however if you do give it all to Oleg then that is obviously at the expense of Demedi if you did want to advance her at any stage :)
That is how I see it and I'm quite happy to go with that :)

She doesn't even have to be there all the time. Can come and go. I mean Oleg returns in 2 weeks - that can fly in this campaign. I certainly still want to keep Oleg as my main guy, but happy to play Demedi from time to time (or more often if there is a reason for her to be around).

Just wondering about the XP at end of a session. Obviously the WC i am playing gets the 'mission' XP you assign, but could I split the 'Bonus XP from cashed in bennies' (if I get any).

I mean, Oleg will already fall behind (I assume he will not get XP whilst at training…and the bonus he got goes some way to making up for this), but can I give him some/all of the 'Bonus XP'? Obviously want to know as I will be getting quite a few Bennies this week and it may be my chance to get some bonus XP.

(If you are after my opinion - ie if it happened when i was GM - I would certainly allow it. Here, a player has let go of their character for story reasons AND created a viable interim replacement).

I initially typed hahahahah, b/c I laughed after I read this post ;) Then I decided to go with Mwwaaaaahahaha. Mwaaaaahaahaaahaa.

Ok enough of that ;) There are 6 things listed, but 5 sounds good b/c the NPC page really isn't much (nothing on there yet but some names). More than happy and just looking fwd to game.

Anyway, i won't go on here as it is about Extras. :)

That makes perfect sense, the NKVD has seen it fit to place her in the squad to report on the war, Commissar Vasily Ivanovich would like to have her in the squad as this particular squad has seen some serious action and she can report on this. The propaganda wheel will be spinning, very good :)

Well I agree totally, lets up it to 5? More if you think, in fact I'm happy for you to tell me how many Bennies you feel should be coming your way, and I will leave it up to you to decide if you want them all in one session or spread out over two or even more :)

I am not sure if you have noticed all the new pages on the left, but I have created the following pages in last 2 weeks: Player Stuff, WF Stuff, Maps & Pics (and added quite a few maps), & NPCs page.

Also typed up 2 other PCs (that are not my responsibility) onto PCs page.

Not to mention the docs and tables (inc the one you just saw). ;)

Anyway, I like contributing to the campaign as a whole when I find time :)
